Reading Animation kicks off again in Mozambique

AIDGLOBAL started the 4th edition of the "Reading Animation" project in the Chibuto District in the second half of July 2017, once again with the support of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. This initiative, which ends on August 31, has as main objectives the promotion of reading and the access to books, with the education community and pregnant women and recent mothers, for a Quality Education in Mozambique.

The dynamics of this project are made possible due to the presence of Joana Costa, a trainee selected under the Inov Contact Program, and Fernanda Antunes, AIDGLOBAL's volunteer through a partnership the Organization maintains with the Associação Ser Mais Valia. It reinforced the Organization's performance in favor of literacy.

The continuation of this initiative, which is a part of the "Reading Animation" project, enabled AIDGLOBAL to carry out 11 animation sessions in schools, 15 in the Chibuto Municipal Library Garden and 40 in the Chibuto Health Center for pregnant adolescents or recent mothers, thus making the continuance of the project "Kula na wu djondza - Growing to Read", possible.

Thanks to the support provided by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation it was possible to offer 250 books to the mothers of newborns and babies who complete 12 months who are registered with the Chibuto Health Center, as well as the creation and distribution of information leaflets on neonatal care and the 2nd Meeting of Teachers that integrate the Network of School Libraries of the District of Chibuto (RBEDC).
