The Mozambican ant invites children to meet her at Forum Lisboa.
AIDGLOBAL is taking part in the celebrations of the European Year for Development with an Education for Global Citizenship activity and a storytelling session of the story “A Formiga Juju na Cidade das Papaias” (Formiga Juju in the City of Papayas) which will take place on 16 May at 11AM at Forum Lisboa.
This is the first story of the Mozambican ant with her “cashew-coloured eyes” which raises awareness about the issues of environmental protection in a fun way. António Gouveia, a professional storyteller from the international group Contrabandistas, will lead the session.
After the storytelling session, AIDGLOBAL will organise an activity with the children about the issues of Education for Global Citizenship. This will involve laying a large world map on the floor in order to raise awareness about global inequalities and promote critical thinking and an active citizenship for a more just world.
Between 13 and 17 May, Plataforma Portuguesa das ONGD (a Portuguese platform for non-governmental development organisations) and its associates are organising the Week for Development at Forum Lisboa. This week aims to promote reflection on the current issues of Development and to generate greater citizen involvement in the construction of solutions to global issues.
Throughout the week, several seminars, workshops, movie screenings, exhibits and other cultural activities will be taking place catering to all ages.
