Teacher Training in “Animation and Promotion of Reading” in Chibuto

50 teachers from schools belonging to the Chibuto School Library Network were trained in areas such as reading, writing, oral narration and dramatisation of stories.

The workshop on ‘Animation and Promotion of Reading in School Libraries’, which took place in the city of Chibuto in August, was a success. The teachers who participated in this workshop were able to learn new ways to motivate students to read. According to one of the participating teachers, ‘the course was very interesting and encouraging’ because ‘it drew attention to the need to cultivate a spirit and habit of reading in students’. The teacher added that the course made her feel ‘prepared to deal with students and encourage them to read and write.’ The 50 Portuguese teachers, belonging to the schools of the ‘Chibuto School Library Network,’ were trained by trainer Tânia Silva in areas such as reading, writing, oral narration, and dramatisation of stories. The ‘Chibuto District School Library Network’ project is co-financed by the Portuguese Institute for Development Support (IPAD), the School Library Network of the Portuguese Ministry of Education and the ‘Ambassadors of Reading’ campaign.
