Formiga Juju visits 60 students at Vasco da Gama Primary School

Students in Lisbon are made aware of the importance of environmental protection through the adventures of the Mozambican ant.

On the last 7 May, classes 5A and 5B of Vasco da Gama Primary School, located in Parque das Nações, received a visit from AIDGLOBAL and Formiga Juju and travelled on a fun adventure through the African continent with the story “A Formiga Juju na Cidade das Papaias” (Formiga Juju in the City of Papayas).
AIDGLOBAL President Susana Damasceno shared with the approximately 60 students of the two classes the odyssey that Formiga Juju faces through the city and the forest to help her friend Papaieira who cries uncontrollably because the rain hasn’t come and the city has no papayas.
This story, which is the first of the Formiga Juju Movement, promotes many values such as environmental protection, the importance of water and union and, above all, global citizenship.
The theme of the story, which features an important message, involves children and calls them to action, two elements which quickly turned this initiative into a spontaneous and successful movement which has united different citizens from the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries. The movement debuted in Portugal in August of 2012 through AIDGLOBAL’s partnership.
