In 2014, AIDGLOBAL, Formiga Juju,

Juju the ant visited two schools in the municipality of Sintra

Sofia Maul, Adelaide Rodrigues and the Papa Estórias involved 200 students in the values of the creative movement in the story of the Mozambican ant.
The two tales of Formiga Juju, the Mozambican ant who “had two pigtails and cashew-colored eyes”, were performed at Escola Básica nº 1 de Massamá and Escola Básica de Xutaria, both in the municipality of Sintra, for around 200 children, divided into four sessions, on March 25 and April 3.

In Massamá, on March 25, storyteller Sofia Maul guided around 50 children on an African adventure, through which she spread values such as environmental protection and citizenship, with the story “A Formiga Juju na Cidade das Papaias”. On April 3, it was the turn of Papa Estórias, a storytelling club from the Escola Superior de Educação, to address the issue of non-discrimination in a fun way with “A Ant Juju e o Sapo Karibu” for 100 students from the same school. On the same day, at Xutaria Primary School, Adelaide Rodrigues, a teacher at the Bela Vista Education Center and an AIDGLOBAL volunteer, presented “Juju the Ant in the City of Papayas” to 50 students, leading them to reflect on the importance of water and the sun for the planet. Formiga Juju is a civic movement promoting reading and creative expression by Cristiana Pereira, Walter Sand and Mia Temporário and its mission is to “awaken children's imagination through reading and creative expression, so that they can become the authors of their own stories”, promoting the values of Education for Global Citizenship. In Mozambique, the Juju Ant Movement was distinguished on April 1 by the Institute of Social Entrepreneurship (IES) as a “High Potential in Social Entrepreneurship” initiative, at the Polytechnic University in Maputo, at the 2nd edition of the IES Social Entrepreneurship Masterclass powered by INSEAD.
