The event was attended by the Pedagogical Director, the School Director, the Director of the Mudada 1st and 2nd Grade School, and 12 teachers, who came together to celebrate the opening of this space dedicated to fostering reading and knowledge.
The new school library is now available for reading and learning for approximately 2,355 students—1,196 boys and 1,159 girls—and 46 teachers. It has 672 books, 8 chairs, 1 table, and 2 bookshelves, all donated by AIDGLOBAL. The resources were organized and prepared by AIDGLOBAL's team in the days leading up to the inauguration.
This marks the 29th school library created by the organization, showcasing its commitment to promoting literacy and encouraging reading in the Gaza province. Through teacher training and creating suitable educational environments, AIDGLOBAL fosters access to knowledge for children and youth in Chibuto.
Launched in 2008, the
"Passport to Reading" program is AIDGLOBAL's largest intervention initiative in Mozambique to combat illiteracy and promote reading. It supports the creation, equipping, and management of municipal and school libraries in Gaza Province while promoting reading activities and training for librarians and teachers.
