Fifth and ninth-graders from Porto Santo participated in the activities
In April and May, AIDGLOBAL promoted workshops at the B+S Professor Dr Francisco Freitas Branco School in Porto Santo, educating and raising awareness on issues of Global Citizenship Education.
On the 9th and 10th of April, three ninth-grade classes participated in activities about “The current role of NGOs”, in which AIDGLOBAL was introduced. During the day, the student had the chance to discuss different forms of active participation in society through role-play activities and the interpretation of a song by the Brazilian musician Gabriel o Pensador, “We scream for peace”.
On May 23rd, three fifth-grade classes took part in workshops on “How to make a ball with reusable materials: examples from Africa and Portugal” during the School’s Sports Week. It was introduced to highlight the importance of recycling due to the Earth’s natural resources scarcity and showcase this. Students learned how to make a ball using rags and socks.
AIDGLOBAL has carried out Development Education sessions in schools since 2010, intending to foster dialogue, debate and reflection on issues such as Human Rights, Gender Equality, Sustainability and/or Cultural Diversity.
