Eight NGDOs intend to continue promoting EDCG in Portugal.
“ED-Comunicar ― do Conhecimento à Mobilização” (ED-Communicate – from Knowledge to Mobilization) is the new Development Education and Global Citizenship (EDCG) project that began on October 1st, 2021, co-financed by Camões, I.P. and promoted by ADRA Portugal in partnership with AIDGLOBAL, Associação Par – Respostas Sociais, Fundação Cidade de Lisboa, Fundação Gonçalo da Silveira, Instituto Marquês de Valle-Flôr, Mundo a Sorrir and Rosto Solidário. Together they intend to foster understanding, recognition and the involvement of strategic actors and the community in general in the public discussion about the current challenges to ensure a more equitable and sustainable world.
This Action Plan aims to demonstrate the need to actively and consciously participate in a glocal community, acting on the basis of cooperation and solidarity, to overcome today’s challenges. It is important to promote and demonstrate that the EDCG is an essential tool for transforming behaviors towards a more democratic, participatory and just society.
Over 24 months, the project will be developed in two phases. During this period it is intended to strengthen the sharing of knowledge and skills of the partners. In addition to partnership, participation will also be a guiding principle in the relationship with the target groups. Participatory and learning-enhancing methodologies will be used in all stages of the process. The action plan in the EDCG work area aims to empower people to become more empowered, active and aware citizens.
The initiative is expected to have an impact on all levels of Portuguese society, aiming to reach as many people as possible, without prejudice, as prescribed in Agenda 2030, under which this project falls.
