The value of the Prize will revert to the NEAR project – NEwly ARrived in a common home which aims to include newly arrived migrant people in the host countries.
As part of the 17th edition of the Cepsa Foundation’s Social Value Awards, AIDGLOBAL will receive 4 563 Euros to boost activities carried out within the scope of the NEAR project – NEwly ARrived in a common home: a two-year European project, financed by European Commission, under the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF), which aims to promote the process of inclusion of newly arrived migrants (adults and minors) in host countries.
The project, which started in March 2021 and will end in February 2023, is developed in Portugal, Italy and Cyprus, and seeks to make society aware of the importance of inclusion, as well as providing intercultural knowledge sharing between migrant people and local communities, namely in the cities of Lisbon, Nicosia, Perugia and Milan.
In Portugal, the project is being implemented by AIDGLOBAL with a special focus on the needs of communities residing in Bairro das Galinheiras, in Lisbon. The first non-formal education activities began in September, with newly arrived children, having started, in November, training aimed at training future community agents who will be responsible for guiding and welcoming newly arrived migrant people.
For Susana Damasceno, Founder and President of AIDGLOBAL, “the support of the Cepsa Foundation represents an invaluable contribution, capable of enhancing the activities and events provided for in the context of the NEAR project, and reflects the recognition and social responsibility that this Foundation has been demonstrating, which materializes in the financing of projects aimed at promoting inclusion and the quality and life of people or groups in situations of social vulnerability”.
The Social Value Awards were created 16 years ago and have already contributed to the development of more than 385 projects with an impact on the quality of life of around 60,000 people spread across Spain, Portugal, Colombia and Brazil, geographical areas in which Cepsa develops your activity.
