AIDGLOBAL promotes Interchange between Educators in Movement of the Scholastic Schools

In the context of the project “Educadores em Movimento – Uma Educação Itinerante para a Primeira Infância” (Educators in Motion – An Itinerant Education for Early Childhood), a meeting took place on 10 and 11 May that brought together the 21 Educadores em Movimento from the five Community Centres. The aim of this exchange was to take stock together of the first five months of the work carried out and to plan the next activities.

With a view to improving their educational activity in the Scholastic Schools where they intervene, this sharing included much learning and exchange of experiences that enriched the professional path of the participants. Starting with a review of the first five months of its operation, there was time for reflection between the educators and the AIDGLOBAL team, regarding the aspects that they considered positive and those that should be improved throughout the school year.

The recognition of the Schools by the communities, especially after their inauguration, which resulted in a significant increase in the number of children enrolled, greater parental involvement in the activities developed, a change in the children’s behaviour with regard to their hygiene and the active participation of the members of the Management Board of the Community Schools (CGC) are some of the positive aspects highlighted.

With regard to what needs to be improved, the compliance with the timetable on the part of the educators and the regular payment of the monthly fees by parents, guardians and carers were highlighted, as only in this way will it be possible to keep them functioning.

During this meeting, several videos were shown to the teachers on pedagogical practices in the kindergarten context, with the intention of replicating them in their own Little Schools. It was also possible to plan the month of May, with activities shared by all, such as the creation and recording of melodies for songs to be worked on with the children. The educators were also given guidelines for the good use of pedagogical resources, namely the Bibliotchovas, mobile libraries.

At the end of the Exchange, an evaluation of these two days of work was made. In a global way, the participants affirmed having acquired more knowledge about the relationship between the child and the Educator.
