AIDGLOBAL travels to Atlantic Summit

Young people from Porto Santo attended for the first time the Meeting promoted by FNAJ.

In order to support and encourage youth associativism, the FNAJ promoted, between November 26th and 28th, in Funchal, Madeira Island, the “Atlantic Associativism and Youth Summit – INOVE+”. The meeting was attended by three students from the Elementary and High School Professor Dr. Francisco de Freitas Branco, Porto Santo, Catarina Pereira, Mariana Fonseca and Nicole Silva, representatives of the future Students Association of the School, who were accompanied by Tânia Silva, AIDGLOBAL Project Assistant.

The Summit brought together about 200 representatives of associations and youth organizations, including 22 from Madeira, 3 from the Azores, and 63 from mainland Portugal, from local and government authorities. Throughout the two days, participative dynamics were created, based on active citizenship, allied to non-formal education methodologies, with the purpose of complementing local youth policies to national ones, with a commitment between the Local and Central State.

The “European Youth Goals” was the working theme of the youth associations that, in an atmosphere of sharing, strategy creation, brainstorming, and synergies, contributed to the construction of the “Pacto INOVE Jovem – Declaração Madeira 2021”, which aims to build a better and fairer future for and with youth.

The closing session was attended by the Regional Secretary of Education, Science and Technology, Jorge Carvalho, the President of the National Federation of Youth Associations (FNAJ), Tiago Rego and the Director of the Erasmus+ JA National Agency, Luís Alves.

The event was supported by the Erasmus+ Youth in Action National Agency and the Regional Government of Madeira. The Regional Youth Directorate supported the travel and accommodation of the three young women, under the More Mobility Program.

The participation of AIDGLOBAL and the girls was framed within the Action Plan “Da Escola para o Mundo – Agir, Incluir, Transformar” (From School to the World – Act, Include, Transform), promoted by AIDGLOBAL – Acção e Inetgração para o Desenvolvimento Global (AIDGLOBAL – Action and Integration for Global Development), in partnership with the School B+S Prof. Dr. Francisco de Freitas Branco, Porto Santo (Active Citizens Fund, EEA Grants).
