“Let’s Go, Get off the Sofa!”

A campaign that calls the youngest to vote.

Bora Lá, Sai do Sofa!” campaign is promoted by AIDGLOBAL under the project “Youth in Politics – Participating for Global Citizenship (2nd Edition)”. The slogan of this campaign “The Presidential vote is a global vote” aims to sensitize youth to vote in the 2021 presidential elections, which are scheduled for January 24.

According to Susana Damasceno, the Founder and President of the AIDGLOBAL Board, this campaign aims to “counteract the lack of interest that many young people show towards politics, valuing their civic participation and awakening them to local, regional and global themes. Also recalling that there is a whole Agenda until 2030 to be fulfilled and that the responsibility for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) also lies with young people to whom their president cannot remain indifferent.”

The digital campaign has the support of several social media platforms that allow its dissemination by several stations in the metropolitan area of Lisbon, several commercial areas of the country, national radio stations and social networks. The aim is to appeal to and mobilize young people aged between 15-24 and young adults aged 25-34 to vote. A QRCode was also created on the campaign’s posters so that everyone can access and know it on @act_global_, Instagram and Facebook pages.

The campaign started on January 1st and will be active until the presidential election day on January 24th on ACT Global Facebook page and on social platforms of the project partners. It contributes strongly to the importance of young people participating as active citizens, to value the democratic practice of voting in favor of Global Citizenship, human rights and Sustainable Development.

The project “Youth in Politics – Participating for Global Citizenship (2nd Edition)” is promoted by AIDGLOBAL, co-financed by Camões – Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua, I.P. and the partners are National Youth Council (CNJ), National Federation of Youth Associations (FNAJ), Rede Dypall, Center for International Studies – University Institute of Lisbon, Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ), Youth Center of Lisbon (CJL) and the Municipality of Santarém.
