On 7 April, the second year class at Escola Básica 1/JI in Massamá will host the storytelling event of the short story “A Formiga Juju e o Sapo Karibu” led by António Gouveia.
The children, between 7 and 8 years old, will witness the adventures of Formiga Juju’s second story, now also featuring her friend Karibu. In this short story, Juju helps her friend who has lost his old bicycle and whom no one understands because he only communicates with his hands. The short story “A Formiga Juju e o Sapo Karibu” seeks to raise awareness among children to non-discrimination of people with different abilities.
The storytelling will be led by António Gouveia, an AIDGLOBAL volunteer and storyteller in the international group Contabandistas, a group formed by five storytellers of different nationalities who tell stories to young children.
The stories, authored by Cristina Pereira, Walter Zand and Mia Temporário, lead the young children on a journey full of adventure through the African continent, promoting values such as solidarity, diversity, creativity, union, inclusion, participation, environmental protection and citizenship.
It was because of this ant’s strong message that AIDGLOBAL took on the leadership of the Formiga Juju Movement in Portugal since August 2012.
