On 2 April, AIDGLOBAL returned to the municipality of Odemira to organise more educational sessions, this time on the theme of the Global Goals for a Sustainable World.
As part of the Jornadas Escolares (School Days) programme, the Municipality of Odemira invited AIDGLOBAL to carry out activities on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2nd cycle classes at the Sabóia 2/3 Basic School, in the municipality of Odemira, in the district of Beja.
Themes related to development and Global Citizenship have been introduced into the World Agenda, defining goals to be achieved by the governments of all countries, companies, institutions and citizens themselves. The 2030 Agenda of the United Nations SDGs challenges them to achieve 17 goals related to various areas, including the environment, gender equality, fairer and more inclusive cities, among others.
Under the theme ‘Educate to Cooperate - a Global Walk for the SDGs’, four classes travelled around the world on a giant map and reflected on the diversities and asymmetries that characterise our planet. They also learnt about and understood the Sustainable Development Goals and their growing importance.
AIDGLOBAL congratulates the Municipality of Odemira on the initiative, bearing in mind that well-informed young people make a fundamental contribution to a fairer, more equal and sustainable world.
