Autumn School brings together young people in favor of youth associativism

On November 14th, the 1st edition of the Autumn School took place in the Porto Santo Community Center. The activity was attended by 11 young people from the 8th to the 11th grade of Porto Santo B+S School, interested in the associative movement.

The meeting aimed to motivate young people for social participation and encourage the co-creation of a Students Association, through playful learning of the concepts of leadership, cooperation, associativism and youth activism.

Throughout the day, cooperation games and group dynamics took place, with the purpose of getting to know how an association works, elaborating a draft intervention plan at school, and also developing critical thinking on themes associated to Human Rights. Besides the “ice-breakers”, the most important activities were in the scope of youth participation.

During the Autumn School there was no shortage of fun moments – an experience to be repeated, according to the young participants.

AIDGLOBAL thanks the Regional Government of Madeira for the free cession of the Community Center.

The initiative was part of the Action Plan “Da Escola para o Mundo – Agir, Incluir, Transformar” (From School to the World – Act, Include, Transform) (Active Citizens Fund – EEA Grants), promoted by AIDGLOBAL, in partnership with the Escola Básica e Secundária Professor Dr. Francisco Freitas Branco, Porto Santo.
