Kick off of the Training Cycle for Youth Wing Militants in Political
On the 30th of June, AIDGLOBAL promoted the first of three training sessions for youth in politics entitled “Discuss to Act”. This session title was ” (Un) Sustainable Development: “Youth and Policies for Change” and happened at ISCTE: University Institute of Lisbon.
The course aims to promote Global Citizenship amongst young militants from political parties, promote Development Education and influence them to address their actions. Along with mediator Andreia Alves, other speakers such as Jorge Cristino, deputy alderman of Guimarães Municipality, and Rui Garcia, project manager of Planeteers, a platform for sustainable products.
This session is intended to raise awareness in young militants so they can act as promoters of development. It took into account the following factors; changing their behaviours as consumers at the political party’s facilities by sharing ideas that can be implemented so that they are more sustainable as an association; the political program of the party, by proposing motions and other political initiatives, especially policies that affect young people to make cities more sustainable.
The subsequent training sessions will be held on the 7th, and 21st of July, from 10 am to 5 pm at ISCTE. The following topics will be addressed:
• 2nd session (7th of July): “Me and others: discrimination and inclusion of migrants.”
• 3rd session (21st of July): “Ensuring Human Rights: youth and the problem of housing.”
