“Youth in Politics – Participating for Global Citizenship (2ndEd.)” is presented at the Santarém Municipal Youth Council

The meeting seeks to build the Municipal Youth Plan of Santarém, periodically bringing together young people from the associative organizations of the municipality.

On April 9th, AIDGLOBAL presented the project “Youth in Politics – Participate for Global Citizenship (2ndEd.), in an online meeting held in the context of the Santarém Municipal Youth Council meeting.

The project’s objectives, expected results and planned activities were some of the themes presented at a meeting in which several representatives of the Santarém City Council were present, such as the Municipal Councilor with the responsibility for Youth, Ricardo Rato. There were also 15 representatives of Party Youth and Youth Associations as well as young people interested in politics.

These meetings have been held periodically and constitute a platform for the construction of the Municipal Youth Plan of Santarém, which starts from the understanding and reflection on the Objectives for European Youth, the Youth Goals, with the purpose of discussing such topics. diverse as those involving the connection of the European Union with Youth; equality for all genders; the promotion of inclusive societies; information and constructive dialogue; the mental health and well-being of societies; boosting rural youth; quality work, space and participation for all; quality education; a green and sustainable Europe; Youth organizations and European programmes.

AIDGLOBAL’s participation in this meeting was an opportunity to strengthen synergies and communicate the project with young people active in politics in Santarém, a municipality in which some of the activities will take place, such as workshops and training aimed at young activists, youth associations, Party Youth, young people and youth technicians. With the Sustainable Development Goals on the agenda, themes such as Education for Development, Cooperation for Development, Youth Goals and Human Rights will be addressed in order to promote debate, teamwork and youth empowerment.

The project “Youth in Politics – Participating for Global Citizenship (2nd Edition)” is promoted by AIDGLOBAL, co-financed by Camões – Institute of Cooperation and Language, I.P. and its partners are the National Youth Council (CNJ), National Federation of Youth Associations (FNAJ), Dypall Network, Center for International Studies – Lisbon University Institute, Portuguese Sports and Youth Institute (IPDJ), Lisbon Youth Center (CJL), and the Municipality of Santarém.
