On April 26th, May 2nd and 4th, , under the Action Plan “Da Escola para o Mundo – Agir, Incluir, Transformar” (From School to the World – Act, Include, Transform, the 8th-grade classes of the B+S School Professor Dr Francisco de Freitas Branco, carried out activities with the Day Care Center of the Fundação de Nossa Senhora da Piedade – Porto Santo and with the University of the 3rd Age of Porto Santo.

The dynamics took place during Physical Education classes and aimed to promote volunteering, physical activity, and provide moments of fun and joy to the students and elders.

The challenges were adapted to each institution, so that everyone could participate. At the Day Center, there were: the solitaire game and the ring game, table bowling, “Guess Who Am I” and the “Crazy Fishing Line”. The ones developed by the students with the people from the Senior University included the pump game, golf, circuit, ring toss and volleyball with balloons.

The contact between two generations – intergenerationality – is not only positive for the elders, but also for the youth. The youth provides support in terms of emotional stability and in the seniors’ overcoming difficulties, and “in return” they develop mentally, awaken an awareness of cooperation, and provide a sense of well-being.

The initiative is promoted by AIDGLOBAL, under the Action Plan “Da Escola para o Mundo – Agir, Incluir, Transformar” (From School to the World – Act, Include, Transform) (Active Citizens Fund, EEA Grants), in partnership with the Escola Básica e Secundária Professor Dr. Francisco Freitas Branco (School B+S Prof. Dr. Francisco de Freitas Branco, Porto Santo). It has the support of the Associação de Pais e Encarregados de Educação da E. B+S Porto Santo (Association of Parents and Guardians of Elementary School E. B+S Porto Santo).
