The kickoff meeting of the project “Jovens na Política — Participar para a Cidadania Global (2ª Ed.)” (Youth in Politics – Participation for Global Citizenship (2nd edition)) was held virtually on October 23rd together with several project partners.
The meeting started with the presentation of the partners and their teams, followed by the contextualization of the new edition of the project that aims to combat the absence and diminished participation of young people in political decisions around themes such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
There are several activities planned within the scope of the project highlighting the digital awareness campaign “Bora Lá sai do Sofa”. The campaign will be held on social networks, involving influencers from various areas with the aim of appealing to young people to vote focused on the presidential and municipal elections that will take place in 2021. During the project, 5 workshops on the SDGs and Portuguese Cooperation will be promoted, involving Party Youths (JP) and young people interested in politics. Other activities are a preparatory trip to Mozambique for Development Education (DE) activities with 5 leaders from youth wings of different political parties, also training and awareness-raising initiatives for DE promoted by JP.
Some questions related to future activities were raised at the meeting, such as the School of Politics for Global Citizenship, the Dialogue Dinner, residential training for technicians in the youth area and the study of the different forms of political participation in favor of development. The work that will be done with young people from Santarém on political participation and implementation of actions at the local level was also announced.
