Municipalities host a training on migration and human rights

Activity carried out in the Autonomous Region of Madeira.

The training “Migrations, Development and Human Rights” aimed at civil servants in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (R.A.M.) was held between 18 and 20 November 2020 in Funchal.

The initiative aimed to raise awareness of the inclusion of immigrants in the hosting society, consisted of moments of reflection and sharing around themes such as migration (voluntary and forced), development (cooperation, co-development, education for development etc.), citizen participation and human rights (prejudices and stereotypes, discrimination etc.).

The ways to promote cooperation, participation and education for inclusion was one of the main issues addressed by the group of eight trainees, composed of civil servants from the municipalities of FunchalRibeira BravaCalheta and Santana, and an employee of Associação de Municípios da Região Autónoma da Madeira (AMRAM).

The action was enriched by the contribution of several guests, such as Polyane Vreekamp, the educator and specialist in ethnic-racial relations, Augusto Mané, the President of the Cultural and Recreational Association of Africans in Madeira (ACRAM), Anna Pogrebtsova, the President of the Russian Center of Culture and Training “Pushkin”, and José Xavier Dias, a teacher at Escola Básica do 2.º e 3.º Ciclos da Torre, author and trainer in the area of interculturality.
