DURAÇÃO

The project lasted for 2 years and took place from 2016 to 2018.

WE PROPOSED

Raising awareness of the importance of social and human development, international cooperation policies, and their interconnections with Human Rights and Migration issues;

making known good practices of Development Cooperation and Co-Development at the local and regional level.

WHY
?

In an increasingly globalized and interdependent world, the eradication of poverty and the need for sustainable development are concerns recognized by the European Union. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) extend to all locations around the globe, not only to developing countries. It is essential that civil society, companies, the government and associations unite in favor of this development, which we want to be fairer and more sustainable. The Strategic Concept of Portuguese Cooperation 2014-2020 is based on three areas of action, two of which are Development Cooperation and Development Education (DE).

The DE is seen as fundamental in development policies and in creating a basis for public understanding and support for cooperation issues. According to the NGDO Platform, DE is a dynamic, interactive and participatory process that aims, among other things, to promote the right and duty of all people, and all peoples, to participate in and contribute to integral and sustainable development.

Migrants play a central role in development. Thus, the concept of Co-development was created to promote new forms of governance that contribute to the socio-territorial inclusion of migrants and the framing of migration policies in a strategy of co-development of the regions of origin and destination of migrants.
