End of the training cycle of the theme “Youth in politics: discuss to act”
The third and final session of the course that promotes Global Citizenship amongst young military men and women from various political parties occurred on the 20th of July at ISCTE: University Institute of Lisbon.
As part of the AIDGLOBAL project Youth in Politics: Participate in Global Citizenship (2nd edition), this course had the final objective to discuss questions related to Education for Development (ED) and how they are included in the programs for youth in the military who are a part of various political parties.
The three phases of the course were provided by Andreia Neves, a specialist in Development and Cooperation, and Manuela Ralha, responsible for the department of Culture of the Municipality of Vila Franca de Xira.
“Ensuring Human Rights: young people and housing issues” is related to SDG 11, with cities and sustainable communities as the key topic of this final session. It aimed at sensitizing political youth in the military and different supporters for the defence of Human Rights in society. It is also intended to understand better programs and political measures related to housing and develop a critical appraisal. Another goal was to raise awareness for the right to housing as an essential prerogative of human rights and promote a broader understanding of different tools and instruments of civic participation.
As in previous sessions, the course was attended by political, military youth, and youth associations, including a member of FNAJ: National Federation of Youth Associations, a partner of AIDGLOBAL, and young people with University degrees who have an interest in the theme.
