Redefining strategies at national level.
The project partners in their countries will redefine the activities initially planned, adapting them to the local reality due to the current circumstances resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and according to the conclusions of the 3rd (virtual) international coordination meeting of the “Walk the (Global) Walk” last March.
Thus, on 30th of April, the teams of AIDGLOBAL and the Municipality of Vila Franca de Xira together with the 13 teachers from the participating schools held an online kick-off meeting of the new strategy for carrying out the next activities in accordance with the guidelines issued by the International Coordination of the project (Região da Toscânia and OXFAM Intercultural).
Several alternatives were discussed after the presentation of the guidelines centered on carrying out the activities online for global action and taking into account the great importance of the upcoming events – the SDG Week and the Global Walk. The teachers, having a fundamental role in the realization of the project, made a valuable contribution based on their experience of schools being closed at the moment. Through the unity, team spirit and motivation that characterize this project, a concerted path was created for the new phase of the project and the starting point was determined for the preparations of the online Global Walk which will take place on the 17th of June through the project’s social networks. The guidelines and tasks outlined during the meeting will be shared with the students involved in the WGW project, who will be responsible for promoting awareness activities until the Walk with the help of their teachers.
Walk the (Global) Walk is co-financed by the European Commission – Education for Development Line and Camões – Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua I.P. It lasts for 36 months and involves 11 countries and 20 partner entities, including AIDGLOBAL in partnership with the Municipality of Vila Franca de Xira.
