The “Porto Santo Sem Lixo Marinho” (Porto Santo Without Marine Waste) Project Seal has been extended to social entities – Non-Governmental Organizations, community groups, and institutions with a social character – and schools, and is available since May 2022.
With the extension, we intend to involve the entire community in the fight against the problem of marine litter and disposable plastic, assuming as commitments, the participation in marine litter collection campaigns, the provision of reusable containers for internal use, the collaboration in awareness and environmental education initiatives, among other actions that reflect a social and environmentally responsible attitude.

The Porto Santo Sem Lixo Marinho (Porto Santo Without Marine Waste)
The “Porto Santo Sem Lixo Marinho” (Porto Santo Without Marine Waste) project intends to lay the foundations for a memorandum of understanding between various public and private actors, in order to stop the escape of plastics into the ocean. It is financed by the Environment Program of the EEA Grants and promoted by Associação Natureza Portugal, in partnership with WWF Portugal, AIDGLOBAL, ARM – Água e Resíduos da Madeira, S.A., the Municipality of Porto Santo and the MARE – Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre in Madeira, hosted by ARDITI. It also has the support of WWF Norway and the Secretariat for Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change of the Regional Government of Madeira.
