“Chibuto Community Schools kick off another academic year”

Between 25 February and 2 March, the start of the 2026 academic year was celebrated in the district of Chibuto, in the province of Gaza, Mozambique. Established as part of the “Educators on the Move – Itinerant Education for Early Childhood” project, which is currently in its second phase of implementation, and supported by AIDGLOBAL, the six Community Nurseries received 178 enrolments from boys and girls aged between 3 and 5: 9 children in Chaimite, 32 children in Chiconelane, 42 children in Malehice, 21 children in Maivene, 50 children in the 25 de Junho U2 and 54 children in the 25 de Junho U4 neighbourhood.

The start of activities was preceded by extensive preparatory work, carried out by the Facilitators/“Educators in Motion”, in conjunction with the AIDGLOBAL team from the Chibuto Delegation. Planning sessions for the recreational and educational activities were also held, with the aim of better preparing and consolidating the learning of the children who attend the Community Schools. At the same time, work was carried out to clean and organise the school premises, covering both indoor and outdoor areas.

To support the continuation of the work carried out in the Community Schools, AIDGLOBAL requires financial support to ensure the purchase of food locally in Chibuto, and to be able to prepare and serve a daily meal to all the children attending the Schools.

Donations can be made via MBWAY, using “Ser Solidário” or the number +351 932 469 205.

It is also possible to support the Chibuto Community Schools through the AIDGLOBAL’s Sponsorship Programme, which allows you to contribute directly to the development, learning and well-being of the children, regularly monitoring the activities carried out and being recognised for your vital role in promoting quality education and the positive transformation of their communities.

“Educators on the Move – Itinerant Early Childhood Education, Phase 2” is primarily funded by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, promoted by AIDGLOBAL, the project manager, and, as partners, the Chibuto District Service for Education, Youth and Technology (SDJET) and the District Service for Health, Women and Social Action (SDSMAS) – bodies that ensure the project is aligned with public policies.
