“Re:Thinking Global!” is a European project, funded by the European Union's Erasmus+ programme, which aims to raise awareness among a wide audience and reach out to the heterogeneous structures of society on issues related to the Environment and the fight against Climate Change, through the creation of different educational materials.
It aims to help anchor alternative concepts, approaches and perspectives for socio-ecological transformation in Education for Sustainable Development and Global Learning in Europe.
The project is addressed to development actors working in the field of ESD/Global Learning/Global Citizenship Education (GCED), multipliers, teachers and collaborators involved in the organisations' projects. Indirectly involved are young people, students, educational and adult education institutions, such as academies and VHSs. The goal is to achieve the broadest possible partnership.

In 2019, the European Commission presented the "European Green Deal" (EEP), with the aim of making the region climate neutral by 2050. The importance of tackling such complex issues is demonstrated not least by the fact that the EEP has been established as one of the four priorities of the Erasmus+ programme's funding line. In the scientific context, concepts and approaches have been developed that attempt to represent the complexity of an ecological transition and contextualise it. One such concept is the imperial way of life by Ulrich Brand and Markus Wissen. The current ecological, social and economic crises stem from a particular social and cultural development. Especially in the Global North, production and consumption are carried out without taking into account ecological and social footprints. An important factor in overcoming the imperial lifestyle is investing in education. Only informed citizens can make conscious and responsible decisions about consumption in their daily lives and participate in democratic processes. However, the concepts are not yet sufficiently rooted in educational practice, as there are gaps in teaching materials that need to be filled. In order to integrate the concepts into a wider educational practice, it is also necessary to have a training programme to enable multipliers to be included in the portfolio of education professionals.
