Exhibition“Rostos de África” brings Mozambique to portuguese students

The exhibition shows photographs of different parts of the country

"Rostos de África" (Faces of Africa) is the name of the exhibition created by Fátima Borges and AIDGLOBAL and inaugurated in February of 2018 at the School library from the 2.3 Padre José Rota, part of the Forte da Casa School Grouping.

With 22 photographs taken in Songo village and other parts of Mozambique, this exhibition is a tribute to the African continent. "Going to Africa is to immerse ourselves in the purity and simplicity of life. It is light, it is colour, it is joy," says the photographer Fatima Borges. The main goal is to show Portuguese students a reality very different from the one they live in.

According to the author, this exhibition "is not only a way to share images and portraits, but also stories, experiences and many emotions. (...) It was not only the light, the colours and the smells that inspired me... it was the people and their stories."

This event was part of the project Educate to Cooperate: the Historical Route of the Lines of Torres and Global Citizenship, which aims to raise awareness of Global Citizenship by exploring themes related to the heritage of the Historical Route of the Lines of Torres. This project is co-financed by Camões - Instituto de Cooperação e da Língua, IP and supported by Fundação Montepio, the project is promoted by AIDGLOBAL in partnership with the Municipalities of Arruda dos Vinhos, Loures, Mafra, Sobral de Monte Agraço, Torres Vedras and Vila Franca de Xira , and also with Centro de Formação de Loures Oriental.
