The fifth edition of “O Fado Acontece” took place on May 7 at the São Jorge Cinema.
The fifth edition of “O Fado Acontece” (Fado Happens), promoted by AIDGLOBAL on May 7 at the São Jorge Cinema, featured the solidarity collaboration of renowned Portuguese music artists, together for one cause - the promotion of Education for Global Citizenship. “Educate to Cooperate”, the largest Education for Development project carried out by this NGDO of ours, was the central motto of the gala which united, in a fraternal embrace, the collaborators and partners in the work developed in this area over the last six years with the public who honored us with their presence. Journalist Fernanda Freitas and actor and director André Gago, one of AIDGLOBAL's founding members, led the show, where the guitar's trill, the viola's wail, the sound of the violin, the fado singers' song, poetry and solidarity went hand in hand. The São Jorge Cinema vibrated not only with the voices of great fado singers such as Raquel Tavares, godmother of AIDGLOBAL, Ana Sofia Varela, Célia Leiria, Hélder Moutinho, Gisela João, Joana Amendoeira, Marco Rodrigues, Maria da Fé, Mísia, Katia Guerreiro and Rodrigo Costa Félix, but also with the music of violinist Natália Juskiewicz. The funds raised are intended to guarantee the sustainability of Development Education projects in Portugal, an area in which AIDGLOBAL has invested, with the aim of contributing to a more active, equitable and supportive citizenship and whose theme has already raised awareness among 1,500 students in 13 national educational establishments.
