The donation comes in response to the urgent need to improve literacy in the country, where teaching reading and writing remains one of the biggest challenges for the education system. By providing these resources, AIDGLOBAL aims to enhance the teaching and learning conditions for approximately 3,000 students, from 1st to 12th grade, who attend both educational institutions.
The donation was made by AIDGLOBAL’s President, Susana Damasceno, and volunteer Rita Alves, who also gifted copies of the organization's bilingual children's book collection, titled “Livros para Começar”. These books, featuring stories in Portuguese and XiChangana, help to build a bridge between different cultures and celebrate Mozambique's rich cultural heritage. At the same time, they promote values such as sharing, cooperation, and respect, which are essential for the development of future global citizens.
The donation reflects AIDGLOBAL’s commitment to promote inclusive and accessible education. Each book and computer delivered represents a tool for more comprehensive teaching, crucial for maximizing student success and skill development. As Nelson Mandela famously said, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."
