Opening of an International Volunteering Camp in São Tomé and Príncipe for young people from the Municipality of Loures

In order to provide young people with an intercultural learning experience, allowing them to get to know a new culture and learn from local projects and experiences, the European project ‘Ecoality: Youth and Local Authorities together for Climate and Gender Justice’ is carrying out an International Volunteering Camp in São Tomé and Príncipe, which will run from 16 to 30 August 2025, aimed at young people aged 18 to 29, students or volunteers in Associations in the Municipality of Loures.

The project aims to mobilise young people to commit themselves to global challenges and to strengthen their cooperation with their local authorities, in order to raise awareness and sensitise them to the urgency and shared responsibility of taking collective action to support and promote Climate Justice
 and Gender Justice.

Participants will have the opportunity to understand the environmental and social challenges they face, and to come into direct contact with strategies that promote Climate and Gender Justice. They will also learn about participation in projects organised by local NGDOs, where the role of activism and eco-feminism will be explored. Participants will be able to share inspiring experiences of developing campaigns and projects in Portugal that have involved young people in promoting equality between women and men and a more sustainable future.

Applications for the International Volunteering Camp will be accepted until 31 May 2025. The regulations can be found, here.
