“Educate for digital participation” Webinar for Youth Coaches

On April 13, AIDGLOBAL promoted the Webinar “Educate for digital participation”, through the Zoom platform, within the scope of the project “Youth in Politics — Participate for Global Citizenship” (2nd edition).


Aimed at professionals who work with and in the youth field, this initiative was intended to be not only a moment of sharing and exchange of successful practices, with local impact, based on the SDGs - Sustainable Development Goals and Development Cooperation as also a space for inspiration and reflection on digital innovation in youth participation, as an instrument of global and local citizenship and on the digitization of democratic processes.

The opening session was attended by the President of the Board of AIDGLOBAL, Susana Damasceno, the Regional Director of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo of IPDJ, IP, Eduarda Marques, and Bruno António, Coordinator of DYPALL Network, which was followed by a round table moderated by the president of the Association of Professionals of Youth Technicians, Hilário Matos, and, as a guest, Sara Silva, Head of the Youth Division of the Cascais City Council, Professor Clara Carvalho, researcher at ISCTE and, also, David Cardoso, young leader of the Municipality of Portimão. Then, the participants were divided into virtual rooms, forming working groups to share good practices and challenges, within the scope of digital participation.

The Webinar had 70 participants, including representatives from 18 City Councils, 14 educational institutions and also 22 entities/organizations/associations: Youth technicians, teachers, students, psychologists, coaches.

The meeting was promoted in collaboration with the Lisbon Youth Center (CJL) of the Portuguese Sports and Youth Institute, I.P. (IPDJ), AIDGLOBAL and DYPALL Network and the participation of ISCTE.

At the end, a survey was conducted for participants to evaluate the Webinar, which was considered “Very Good”, with “interesting”, “enriching” and “productive” the most frequent attributes.

The project “Youth in Politics – Participating for Global Citizenship (2nd Edition)” is promoted by AIDGLOBAL, co-financed by Camões – Institute of Cooperation and Language, I.P. and its partners are the National Youth Council (CNJ), National Federation of Youth Associations (FNAJ), Dypall Network, Center for International Studies – Lisbon University Institute, Portuguese Sports and Youth Institute (IPDJ), Lisbon Youth Center (CJL), and the Municipality of Santarém.
