Chibuto Community Schools “open doors” to another school year

Between February 5 and 9, the start of the 2024 school year was held in the district of Chibuto, in the province of Gaza, Mozambique, marked by the opening of the 6th Community School, in Bairro 25 de Junho Unit 4 (U4), with 45 children enrolled.

Created under the project “Educadores em Movimento – Uma Educação Itinerante para a Primeira Infância”, which is in the 2nd phase of implementation, and supported by AIDGLOBAL, the 6 Community Schools received 157 applications from boys and girls, between 3 and 5 years old: 21 children in Chaimite, 19 children in Chiconelane, 23 children in Malehice, 20 children in Maivene, 29 children in Bairro 25 de Junho U2 and 45 children in Bairro 25 de Junho U4.

At the beginning of the activities, it preceded all the preparation work, developed by the Animators/"Educators on the Move", together with the AIDGLOBAL team of the Delegation in Chibuto, its President, Susana Damasceno, the 6 Community Management Councils and, also, with the support of the Parents of the children who participated in some of the meetings.



Sessions were also held to plan the playful-pedagogical activities, in order to better prepare and consolidate the learning of the children who attend these Schools. In addition, a whole work of cleaning the school space, both internal and external, was carried out.
 
To support the continuation of the work developed in the Community Schools, AIDGLOBAL launched its latest Crowdfunding Campaign, with a view to building 3 latrines and 4 kitchens, en bloc.

Educadores em Movimento - uma Educação Itinerante para a Primeira Infância, Phase 2" has the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation as its main funder, AIDGLOBAL, the project manager, as its promoter, and the Chibuto District Service for Education, Youth and Technology (SDJET) and the District Service for Health, Women and Social Action (SDSMAS) as partners - entities that guarantee the project's links with public policies.
