Starting in June and lasting for 20 months, the aim is to raise awareness and mobilise citizens, including students and politicians, in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, around the themes of domestic violence and poverty, based on research, communication, structured dialogue and policy monitoring.
The project will develop two scientific studies, one focusing on poverty and the other on domestic violence, two realities still present in the Autonomous Region. The research will be the basis for other activities, such as strategic/policy papers and meetings with policy actors.
In order to involve the students of the University of Madeira, two campaigns will be carried out on the project's themes, aiming to deconstruct stereotypes, informing, raising awareness and mobilizing the target groups for action. The campaigns include an online petition on one of the issues.
The workshop "Communicating for Human Rights" and the glossary/kit on inclusive language for the media - two of the project's products - will be aimed at communication professionals.
For young people interested or active in the associative movement, two Summer Schools on "Associativism and Human Rights" will be held - one in Porto Santo and another in Funchal. The participants interested in founding a youth association will have the support of AIDGLOBAL.
As provided for in the Programme Regulations, part of the funding will be earmarked for capacity building of AIDGLOBAL, at an organisational level.
