CALL TO ACTION: registrations for the “(e)mission (im)possible” online course are now open!

Due to the climate inaction that is leading us to an average global temperature rise of +2.7 degrees by the end of the century, the climate emergency requires immediate action to be taken and implemented in all sectors of society. In this unprecedented challenge, the role of Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid becomes crucial as a driver of equity and justice across borders.

To reinforce the key competencies of staff, volunteers, students and academics in the sector, so that they become actors of change and advance in climate action, the “(e)mission (im)possible” developed an online training, free of charge, which offers a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) of 25 hours, certified with ECTS credits.

Created by cooperation professionals and experts in environmental and climate accounting, the MOOC is designed to be followed flexibly and be compatible with the professional and study activities of the participants. The management is autonomous since the trainees can follow the course from the moment they enrol until the end of March, managing the time according to their availability.

Available in English, Italian, French, Spanish and Portuguese, the course aims to provide a vision and knowledge of the fundamental methodological and technical tools to guide transformative processes that result in the reduction of emissions and the promotion of positive climate actions.

Divided into 6 hours based on lessons made available through short videos and 19 hours of studies and practical exercises, it aims to develop skills in 4 main thematic axes:

  • The human dimension of climate change: responsibility, climate justice and human rights;
  • Basics of climate change: climate science and international governance;
  • Organizations' actions to reduce emissions and improve their climate actions;
  • Involve others in change: donors, partners, local communities and policy makers.
