Academy for Human Rights

The "Academia pelos Direitos Humanos" (Academy for Human Rights) is an initiative aimed at students of the University of Madeira (UMa) that will take place at three different times: April 19 and 26, online, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., and May 6, in person, at the Youth Center of Funchal, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m..

This Academy aimed at the students of the University of Madeira and aimed at addressing the theme of Domestic Violence and Poverty, strengthening democratic culture and civic awareness.

In the first two sessions, students were challenged to interact among peers to reflect and discuss the themes of Domestic Violence, Poverty and democratic participation, based on group dynamics.

In the last session, the students jointly developed an awareness campaign on Domestic Violence, a campaign that will be promoted at the University of Madeira.

This is an initiative integrated in the project "Dialogar e Agir por + Igualdade na RAM", which proposes to raise awareness and mobilize citizens, including students and politicians, in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, around the themes of Domestic Violence and Poverty, based on research, communication, structured dialogue and policy monitoring. The Academy has the support of the Regional Directorate of Youth of R.A.M..

The project is promoted by AIDGLOBAL, in partnership with the University of Madeira, and funded by the EEA Grants ActiveCitizens Program, with the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the Bissaya Barreto Foundation as Operator.
