1st Meeting between the Technicians of the Provincial and District Services AND the Project team

AIDGLOBAL, mentor of the project “Educadores em Movimento —  Uma Educação Itinerante para a Primeira Infância - 2ª fase”, promoted the Meeting between the Technicians of the Provincial and District Services of the District of Maputo and the active team, within the scope of Activity A.2.3 of this project, which provides for the “Monitoring and training, in the work context, of the district services, to strengthen their skills in the supervision andmonitoring of community schools”.


Held in the Sessions Room of the District Services of Health, Women and Social Action, in Chibuto, on April 19, 2023, started at 09:00 am, having been energized by the project coordinator, Susana Damasceno, and counted on the participation and logistical support of the entire team of the Organization.
 
12 technicians from the Provincial and District Services, including 2 Technicians from the Provincial Directorate of Gender, Child and Social Action, 2 Technicians from the Provincial Directorate of Education and Human Development, 1 focal point of the district for NGOD inherent to the Government of the District of Chibuto, 4 Technicians from the District Services of Health, Women and Social Action, 2 Technicians from the District Service of Education, Youth and Technology and 1 Technician from the District Service of Economic Activities attended the meeting.
 
The Agenda began with the Presentation of the Participants, which followed the Balance Sheet of the Operation of Community Schools in the 1st quarter of the 2023 school year, with the project team presenting the data for the period in question and the subsequent Activity Plan. The Assistant Education Technician, Ledieta Bombe, listed the number of registered children, dropouts and non-participants of these 5 Mozambican communities of Chibuto — Bairro 25 de Junho, Chiconelane, Chaimite, Maivene and Malehice. She also referenced the difficulties that the technical team of the project has faced, especially the Animators / “Educators on the Move”, in the exercise of their functions. Those present discussed all these issues and proposed some solutions to the problems presented.
 
The coordinator of the project, Susana Damasceno, informed that, in May, an exchange will be held to share experiences between the Animators / “Educators on the Move” and that, in August, private School Educators, linked to other Organizations, will also participate. On this occasion, a capacity building action will take place, with the aim of strengthening their skills.
 
In the third item of the Agenda —  Monitoring and Monitoring of Community Schools — two aspects were addressed: Annual Monitoring Plans (Provincial and District Services) and Monitoring Documents created in 2022. In relation to the first, a draft of the Annual Monitoring and Evaluation Plans of the activities developed in the Schools was presented, so that the participants could evaluate and contribute to improve the document. Those present suggested that other activities be added. Regarding the Monitoring Documents created in 2022, the Project Coordinator distributed to the participants the Monitoring Plans created in the 2022 school year, within the scope of the 1st edition of the project, to assess the work developed in the Community Schools.
 
In the fourth topic of the Agenda, the Presentation and Discussion of the Proposal for monitoring and training in the work context by the District Services was made. The aim is to strengthen their competences in the supervision and monitoring of Community Schools involving the Planning of actions and the Themes to be addressed.

Regarding  Planning, it was agreed to carry out 9 joint monitoring actions, 4 in the 2023 academic year (April/June/August/October) and 5 in the 2024 academic year (March/ May/ July/ September/November) that will integrate a Monitoring Plan that includes representatives of all district services: 2 Education Technicians + 2 from SDMAS + 2 from Nutrition + 2 from Agriculture + 2 from Health + Provincial Directions + Project Team —  which have the responsibility of monitoring the Little Schools. The themes selected were: Human Resources, Curriculum of the Schools, Health, Nutrition, Functioning and Management.

The meeting closed at 14.45, after fulfilling the Agenda.

Educadores em Movimento - uma Educação Itinerante para a Primeira Infância, Phase 2" has the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation as its main funder, AIDGLOBAL, the project manager, as its promoter, and the Chibuto District Service for Education, Youth and Technology (SDJET) and the District Service for Health, Women and Social Action (SDSMAS) as partners - entities that guarantee the project's links with public policies.
