On 4th of November, AIDGLOBAL celebrated two decades since its founding with an event that brought together a hundred guests for dinner, followed by a concert celebrating 20 years of memories, which took place in the auditorium of the Lisbon Youth Center, at the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ).

Several institutional figures, funders, partners, members, volunteers, former employees, and supporters attended the event, including the former Mayor of Vila Franca de Xira, Dr. Alberto Mesquita, the Vice Mayor of Loures, Dr. Sónia Paixão, the Coordinator of the Lisbon Youth Center, Dr. Fernanda Brito, the Executive Director of the Portuguese Platform of NGDOs, Dr. Rita Leote, Founder and Executive Director of ARS Design, Mr. Joaquim Castelo, Dr. João Costa Alves, from Nova Expressão, Dr. Rui Mesquita, co-founder of Mozambikes, among other distinguished participants.

The charity show was presented by Susana Damasceno, Founder and Chair of AIDGLOBAL, and André Gago, one of its founding members. Throughout the evening, Sebastião Antunes and his guests gave a magnificent performance. Carlos Moisés from Quinta do Bill, Célia Leiria, Joana Rita, Paula Teixeira, Carlos Lopes, and Cherry were the voices of solidarity that accompanied us on this commemorative evening.

The 20th anniversary of AIDGLOBAL was an opportunity to look back on the results achieved in Portugal and Mozambique, two countries where more than 40 projects have been implemented, benefiting around 80,000 children, young people, and teachers. In her speech, the Chair of the Board stated that the Organization will continue to strive for quality education, in the hope that a better world will be reborn.

During the celebration, there was also time to announce that 2025 will be remembered as the year in which infrastructure was created in Chibuto, Mozambique, to guarantee essential water and energy resources, not only for the functioning of the Chiconelane Community School, one of the six schools created by AIDGLOBAL, but also to support the community's primary school and the population in general.

At various points throughout the evening, the invaluable collaboration of institutions, companies, cooperators, and volunteers was highlighted, which made it possible to transform a dream into an accredited organization with work done at the national and international levels.

This commemorative initiative was sponsored by IPDJ, Lisbon Youth Center, which provided the auditorium, ICA – Indústria e Comércio Alimentar SA, which provided the buffet, Quinta de São Sebastião, which provided the wine, Cornucópia Florista, which provided the flowers, and Contraste Fotografia, which provided photography services for the event.
