As part of the project “Educadores em Movimento – Uma Educação Itinerante para a Primeira Infância”, AIDGLOBAL and its partners promoted the reopening of five Community Schools in the Chibuto District, Gaza Province, Mozambique.
In the week 06 to 13 of February, the Little Schools of the Communities of Malehice, Chiconelane, Maivene, Chaimite and Bairro 25 of June received 158 children of which 111 entered the Little Schools for the first time and 47 carried on from the previous school year.
The Neighborhood Community School 25 de Junho maintained the same team of 6 Educators and had 37 new students enrolled. Although 48 children were enrolled in total, only 34 were present on the opening day of the school year.
The Malehice Community School at the opening date, 02/07, had registered 25 children: 18 new registrations and 7 renewals.
On the opening day, 21 children, 15 registered children and 6 non-registered children were present.
The Chiconelane Community School, was the school with fewer children present on the first day of classes, 7 children present. Despite this number, the school currently has 29 children enrolled, 15 new registrations and 14 renewals.
The Maivene Community School had 24 children enrolled and 2 not enrolled, totaling 26 children on the opening day of the new year.
Finally, the Chaimite Community School had 25 new registrations and 5 renewals, but on the first day of classes only 18 children were present.
The district government, local leaders, children's families, their "Educators on the Move" and AIDGLOBAL welcome these children and wish them that they can in another school year " Play, Learn and Grow", thus fulfilling the mission of these Little Schools!
