With toys you learn better

The recently opened Little Community School of Bairro 25 de Junho (U4), which opened its doors in February, received a set of pedagogical materials and resources, designed to entertain and better enrich the educational process of the 56 children who attend it.

Playing with different types of toys is a fundamental activity for the development of children who, when stimulated, improve their brain structure and functioning. It is through play that the first steps in the motor, cognitive and social learning process are taken and fundamental elements are developed for the formation of the child's personality, so that they learn to process information, organize thinking and manage their emotions.

As it is a newly opened Little School, several toys were offered, such as zebras, lions and giraffes carved in wood, to stimulate the children's imagination and expand their knowledge about the world. Food-related toys, namely miniature bags of rice, pasta and beans, will contribute to developing children's creativity and fostering their autonomy through the introduction of habits and practices present in their daily lives.

School materials such as chalks, springs, scissors and crayons were also delivered to facilitate the teaching-learning process. Children attending the Little Community School will now be able to hear more children's stories through two of the bilingual books released by AIDGLOBAL: “O Artesão e os Macacos Malabaristas” (The Craftsman and the Juggling Monkeys) and “A Aldeia dos Cajueiros Mágicos” (The Village of the Magic Cashew Trees).

To promote physical activity, soccer balls were offered, so that children can develop bonds of friendship and team spirit, which strengthens their confidence and self-esteem. All this will contribute to a healthy, fun and stimulating environment at the Bairro 25 de Junho Little Community School, Unit 4 (U4).
